"How could you leave? The sinkhole, it came out of nowhere. All those kids...And where were you?! If you hadn't left maybe they'd still be alive! And Kaylessa, the innkeeper over at the Swinging Sword, heard of her? Dead. How could you?"
A party of adventurers leave a small village troubled by strange happenings to mourn their fallen comrade. In their absence, a large sinkhole has opened in the town square, several children falling into its gaping maw. Some survived, others weren't so lucky. That cult everyone thought was a rumour has been up to some nasty business; killing the innkeeper, Kaylessa, strong-arming locals, and bringing in reinforcements to make sure those meddlesome adventurers don't interfere again.
