Ramsgate Tavern 1811
Press gangs prowl the streets and militiamen march intermittently by. On the harbor, ship bells chime. Ropes creak. Waves lap gently at the new-built fortifications. Tomorrow, you join your men and sail for the continent, there to fight the famous Napoleon. But that is tomorrow. Tonight, you play whist. Tonight, you gather your pluck out of a bottle and spin yarns with your fellows. Tonight, you and England say goodbye.
