Mountainside Cabin
I visited the graveyard today, where she passed. I had hoped to communicate with her there, or maybe just feel a bit of peace. One of the clerics from the temple came with me, and we talked, for a long time. He told me she was at rest, in one way or another. I told him I wanted to talk to her, and he gently took my hands, laying them onto the brown blades of grass where we sat so I could feel the earth underneath. He explained in the kindest voice I’ve ever heard why it couldn’t be, and that if I tried I risked dragging myself and her into a horrid state. I told him I had heard of other places where those familiar with magic could do it safely, and he listened, patiently and quietly. But at the end he shook his head. “It cannot be done here,” he said, still so kindly. “Not in the way you need it to.”
